The Association québécoise pour l’éducation à domicile (AQED), or Québec Association for Home-Based Education in English, is a volunteer citizen organization founded in 1997 by families who wanted to better support each other in their homeschooling journeys.
In 2020, the association represents more than 1,500 families, which represents over 3,000 children homeschooled in Québec.
AQED is a non-profit secular organization. Its decisions and actions are based on the results of scientific research related to learning, homeschooling, and the well-being of children and their families.
Our mission
AQED's mission has three main components:
To unite, inform, and support Quebec parents who choose to homeschool, and to respond to the questions and needs shared by all Quebec homeschooling families, regardless of language, religion, or educational philosophy.
To represent its members before the Minister of Education and Higher Learning, school service centres, and other organizations related to youth and education.
To support and defend the rights of parents to educate their children according to the philosophy and learning method they choose, while protecting children’s rights to receive a healthy and balanced education.
