Where does math phobia come from? Why is it more present in girls than in boys? How can we re-establish our relationship with math? How can we ensure that our children do not develop a phobia of math, and even learn to love math? There are now many scientific studies that help answer these questions, and more and more educators are working hard to get the message out that anyone can learn to love and be good at math. Let's review the definition of math and explore different learning avenues together that will get you excited about rediscovering the world of math and sharing it with your children.
Beatrice Mantovani has been practicing unschooling with her two daughters since her oldest was born almost 16 years ago. She studied economics at university and has always loved math, but it is only recently that she has rediscovered her enthusiasm for the subject, discovering authors and educators such as Jo Boaler and James Tanton, and a wealth of fun and exciting resources for learning or relearning to love math.
