2026-2027 Pre-Budget Brief
AQED has submitted its pre-budget brief to the Minister of Finance.
In this brief, we make 8 concrete recommendations:
- Reactivate the Consultation Table to establish a channel of communication between the Ministry of Education and homeschooling families.
- Encourage homeschooled youth to graduate and harmonize studies sanction.
- Review the funding granted to CSSs for home education.
- Facilitate access to educational tools for homeschooling families.
- Fund the “Association québécoise de l’éducation à domicile (AQED)” as an intermediary to support homeschooling families in Quebec.
- Cancel mandatory ministerial exams for homeschooled youth.
- Ensure and maintain the representativeness of homeschooling families in decision-making processes.
- Improve the complaint system with the “Direction de l’enseignement à la maison (DEM)”.
Home education is a reality in Quebec, and the funding allocated to it deserves to be optimized so that homeschooling families can truly benefit from it.
