Budget Restrictions: Impact on Collaboration with the DEM

The Direction de l’enseignement à la maison (DEM) has canceled the meeting scheduled for January 29. The department informed us that it intends to refocus its activities on providing direct services. Due to current budget restrictions, the DEM is no longer able to meet with partners or engage in the joint development of support tools for families, school boards or school service centers.

While we regret this situation, we have been assured that a channel of communication remains open to address problematic situations or new issues.

Rest assured that we will use this channel whenever necessary, particularly regarding concerns  you bring to our attention.

AQED’s position remains unchanged concerning the optimized monitoring of the DEM. We continue to emphasize to the department that we perceive a legal risk in encouraging families to withhold mid-year documents.

Furthermore, we are maintaining our efforts to secure a meeting with the Minister of Education during the winter season.
