You have a kid between the ages of 12 and 17 that loves to travel, see new places and meet some awesome people along the way? You would love for them to get to know more of Canada, doing all the fun and cultural things you could think of and become friends with other homeschoolers?
This is the opportunity of a lifetime!

AQED and the Island Discovery Learning Community on Bowen Island, BC are planning a youth exchange with the support and partial funding from Experiences Canada in spring/summer 2024.
This will be an awesome 2 week experience getting to know a different part of the country and make connections with other homeschooling teens.

Who:
11-12 kids between the ages of 12 and 17yo from Aqed member families that will be paired with a group of same aged kids from the Discovery Learning Community
(This is not a language exchange! Speaking English is an asset, though not a requirement. The BC group doesn’t speak French.)
Because of group accommodation and possible host families (incl police checks etc) teens from all over the province can apply, but we especially welcome applications from families in the Quebec City area and the Outaouais.

When/Where:
1 week in Quebec City (April 5th to 8th, 2024) and Gatineau (April 9th to 12th, 2024)
1 week in British Columbia: week of June 24th on Bowen Island, BC

Costs:
approximately $900/participant*
* including EVERYTHING (flights, on site travel, accommodation, food, activities, outings, admission to museum etc everything… they only need to bring their sleeping bag and a toothbrush…) Fundraising to lower the costs further can be discussed.

Parent involvement:
We expect families to be actively involved! This can be in the planning stages (fundraising, helping to plan activities), but will also be necessary during the week in Quebec/Gatineau (chaperone on an outing, driving, helping feed the group etc (costs will be reimbursed))

We are excited!! Are you too? Interested to learn more?
