Summary of the meeting in preparation for the upcoming fall 2026 elections

Issues

We aim to bring the following key issues to the attention of the political parties:

  • Reactivation of the national roundtable on homeschooling
  • Improvement of the process for  the certification of study and judicious use of ministerial exams
  • Review of public funding allocated to homeschooling in Quebec

In fact, the roundtable has not been convened since the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) took office. All members will be able to support the AQED action plan. We will reach out to candidates from all parties when they are in public places or if they come to your homes while canvassing door-to-door. A communication will be sent to you to help you prepare for these types of meetings.

In addition, “no-back-to-school” picnics will be targeted to invite candidates to come and meet families directly. If you see that a debate is being organized for candidates in your area, please feel free to participate and pass the information along to the AQED political action committee. If you have any other suggestions to increase visibility, please feel free to write to us.

Survey

A survey was conducted on June 15 among homeschooling families. If you haven’t had a chance to fill it out yet, it’s never too late.

You can find the link here:https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdx-8ZPR90KvXpDPqDr6IU0hO9pn6VyYQjQEcQcYrQbNNXQ2A/viewform

The responses to this survey will help us highlight the difficulties in accessing services, the unfairness of the certification of studies process, and other challenges faced by our youth, as there are no governance tools in place to monitor the Homeschooling Regulation, which has been in effect for eight years.

Stay tuned throughout the summer for updates on the next steps in our action plan!
